During Showtime's Thanksgiving Day on March 7, the hosts admitted that it was through the singing competition that the show was able to get back on its feet. Apparently, Showtime suffered low ratings after their rival noon-time show 'Eat Bulaga' introduced AlDub's Kalyeserye.
The show's hosts believe that the TnT segment helped Showtime regain its noon-time lead
Vice admitted that the segment was a huge blessing for the show. During the thanksgiving event, the comedian said: "Ina-acknowledge naman namin ‘yon. Malaking blessing sa Showtime ang Tawag ng Tanghalan."
Even host Karylle Tatlong Hari claimed that the segment has become a part of many viewers' day. "I’m very thankful kasi maraming nagsasabi sa akin na nanonood sila. And it’s a big part of their day," Karylle said.
"Akala nila singers talaga. Hindi nila alam na contestants kasi sobrang galing nila eh," exclaimed comedian Ryan Bang. According to Ryan, even his relatives are avid supporters of the segment.
As for actress and model Anne Curtis, she believed Tawag ng Tanghalan was in line with the variety program's brand from the very beginning since the show's original concept is all about contests. Anne claimed that the noon-time show had always been about the friendly competitions.
"[Tawag ng Tanghalan] really complemented the show because Showtime from the very start is a show that has contests. So it came at the right time talaga," said Anne.
The latest data of Kantar Media shows that the Kapamilya noon-time show remains in the country's most-watched shows.
This week, Tawag ng Tanghalan will be holding its grand finals week. On March 11, the segment's very first grand champion will be announced at the Resorts World Manila after the final showdown.
